    Scientific advances have led to an understanding that we live in an ever-expanding and evolving universe. In the light of this cosmic consciousness new soteriological models are needed. The Gospel of John can provide the basis for a new thinking about the meaning of the Jesus event. This article shows that the Fourth Gospel begins and ends with the theme of Creation, with implications for developing soteriological
    models more relevant to the twenty first century.
