This paper was published in 1994 in a Festschrift for Archbishop Keith Rayner. It examines the bilateral dialogues to that date around the question of episcopal order and ministry, between the Anglican Church of Australia and two non-episcopally ordered churches, the Uniting Church in Australia and the Lutheran Church of Australia.
