This essay looks at the ways spirituality impacts upon the individual, the family and the common life of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), the ways BEC members respond to their environment. For this we need to look at the ways faith and spirituality influence cultural values, stimulate responses to unjust social situations, and guide relations with people of other faith traditions. Spirituality in BECs also involves looking at the way the Bible is read, and at the role popular devotions and liturgy play. All these compete in forming attitudes and actions in daily life, in shaping the spirituality by which we live.
