    Abstract

Buddhology lacks a defined relationship to history; Christian theology of creation needs to submit itself to the Buddhist critique of theism. When this is done, Gautama and Jesus seem theologically more similar than at first sight appears. In both traditions a narrative approach poses the question of the significance of history, which in turn leads to the possibility of ethics.
