Since the arrival of the new millennium the talk of the new evangelization has become in Catholic missiology. Yet a careful analysis of the origin of the phrase will show that it cannot indiscriminately be applied everywhere in the Catholic world. As far as Asia is concerned, though we could speak of the need for a new paradigm of evangelization, unqualified discourse on a new evangelization would prove to be counter productive. This paper will speak about the help that Asia can receive from an understanding of the new evangelization and the need to go further to make the ecclesial community the salt, light and leaven to the Asian society.
