    Abstract

Stephen Hawking, the famous mathematician and astrophysicist, together with Leonard Mlodinow, a noted scientist, present their view of the universe, its origin and nature. They tackle the questions of creation, free will, the existence of God, teleology etc. They hold a determinist standpoint, and reject philosophy as irrelevant, and see theology as the product of uninformed minds. The value of the book is observing how these minds, brilliant in their own sphere, maintain their scientific conclusions even when considering matters from a different order of perception. Their viewpoint is reductionist, yet stimulating at the same time.
