    Abstract

This chapter offers two stories, one from the Pacific in recent times and one from Western Australia in the 19th century. Each example bears on the question of women in mission and the power of space 'between' conventional categories. The discussion works with the concept of intersecrtionality to show the significance of disrupted categories of analysis.
