    Abstract

Ecumenical theology has reached a crossroads in the context of the dialogue of world religions. The way forward is to apply the lessons learnt in Christian ecumenism to the wider dialogue. In this case, however, the goal of the dialogue is not easily specified. But engaging in inter-religious relations, far from superseding ecumenical dialogue, can only enhance it by providing new challenges.
