    Abstract

This chapter outlines the development of Karl Barth's doctrine of election, from 1924 through to 1942. It notes in particular the influence that Pierre Maury had on Barth's thinking in 1936, and how Barth's mature doctrine was an intentional act of discursive resistance against Nazism.
