    Through extraordinary brevity, parables invoke theological engagement across a range of common human challenges. Their brevity is also an impetus for framing theological responses with similar compression of thought. To offer a fleeting or partial glimpse implying the whole can be enticing. Parables demonstrate this pervasively. Parables invoke an antiphonic challenge for theological engagement—summoning less not more in theological response.
