    Abstract

    This chapter outlines Christian teaching on social justice,beginning with Gospel stories and then looking at how building the Reign of God applies today. It considers the centrality of the person in Catholic thinking, and one's relation with the common good of all; the key notions of solidarity, social justice and the preferential option for the poor; subsidiarity; the nature of the economy and the importance of work; the right to a just wage; private property and how to respond to poverty in Australia.
