    This article surveys current socio-economic data regarding the inequities in wealth distribution in Australia and overseas, and the Gospel's perspective on the demands of Christian discipleship. It is in the tradition of social theology and policy that John Paul II spoke of the social mortgage in herent on the possession of goods.
