    Abstract

It is fitting to consider Paul's Letter to the Galatians and his Letter to the Romans together. This is so not only because they are similar in content but also because of the contribution that each has made to Christian life down the ages. Linking them in content is their common focus on the issue of whether right relationship with God ("righteousness") is attained through observance of the law of Moses or through faith.
