Abstract

The chapter focuses on Bibles as material artefacts and asks how this focus might relate to biblical interpretation. I draw on the notion of intertextuality and the relationship between language and the material, developed by Julia Kristeva, to explore the possibility of a material intertextuality. A reading of the parable of the Sower in Luke 8:4-8 explores this material intertextuality.
