Abstract

This essay examines the narrative role of the Mother of Jesus at Cana (John 2:1-12) and at the Cross (John 19:25-27). I argue that: "Apart from Jesus, no other character is as important to the ideological point of view of this Gospel's narrative, than the Mother of Jesus" (213).
