This chapter argues against the tradition interpretation of the Lukan Parable of the Pounds (Luke 19:11-28), which has viewed it primarily eschatologically. The author argues that this sits uncomfortably with the rest of Luke's teaching on wealth and salvation. Instead, the parable is interprested through a socio-political frame that distances Rome from the immediate context but still enables a radical critique of any worly political power.
