Abstract

This article explores the theologies and models of leadership that informed Catholic women in twentieth-century Australia. It highlights the shift in understanding of leadership from individual decision-makers to collective practices of influence, and identifies precursors of this style of leadership within the Catholic congregations of women religious, and well as structural barriers to the leadership of women within the churches.
