The Global Financial Crisis has caused deep soul-searching among many economists who have placed much of the blame on a neoliberal philosophy that privileges free-market mechanisms over moral considerations and social justice. Church thinkers have been listening closely to thinkers like Joseph Stiglitz, Amartya Sen and Jeffrey Sachs, about the need for firmer moral foundations in economic and social policy.
