This article emerges at the intersection of theology, biblical studies and the specific context of an inner city Uniting Church congregation. The congregation wrestles with discomfit about colonial expressions of mission, while at the same it seeks to faithfully respond to the invitation of Jesus to join in G*d's mission of reconciling all things. In paying attention to this tension: the intrinsic aversion to old forms of mission and the desire within this congregation to find authentic, non-colonising ways of sharing in Christ's homecoming agenda, insights are gleaned and a way of being church is offered.
