This book chapter reflects on the work and practise of the German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Part of a conversation on composers and their impact on contemporary listeners for a popular audience with Sydney researcher and broadcaster Dr Ida Lichter this chapter explores the way in which Bach uses music to convey his literary and theological intent, and how his music may be received by contemporary audiences.
