The locates a theology of ageing in the context of various approaches to ageing (e.g. medical, economic, sociological).
A 'theology of ageing' engages with but is not controlled by the other understandings of ageing. A theology of ageing sheds its own light on ageing and on the other approaches to understanding ageing. Big question are common to all ages: Who am I? What am I here for? What value am I? To whom do I belong? Such questions find their place within a life narrative within which life is lived, often with answers to these questions remaining tacit, taken for granted. Belief in God is one way of addressing these big questions. Since Benetas had its origins in the Christian faith, the book draws on a Christian understanding of God, set out concisely and leading onto an account of ageing well.
