Anne Hunt explores the relationship between the doctrine of the Trinity and the various other "mysteries" that comprise the dimensions of Christian faith - drawing on the oft-stated but seldom explored idea that all theological topics are inter-related, and that no one doctrine exists in isolation from another.
The book begins with a brief overview of the developments of the doctrine of the Trinity, as well as an exploration of the revival of trinitarian theology in the twentieth century. It then goes on to explore topics such as Trinity and salvation, Trinity and creation, Trinity and the religions etc. The approach of the book is to critically evaluate the work of significant theologians, and in this way the book serves as an excellent introduction to students and teachers alike. Hunt is a generous theologian, whose concern is to identify the contribution of her interlocutors. Thus, for example, she focuses on the insight of Augustine's doctrine of the Trinity, including his psychological analogy - contrary to the contemporary trend to blame Augustine for almost all the problems of western theology thereafter.
