Using insights from social history, religion and literature, this book traces the connection between the 'communal Reformation'and the outpouring of tracts and pamphlets in the 1520s. These pamphlets helped create a dynamic and subversive network of communication where language and structure were of equal importance. This is the first book in English that explores the Reformation as a literary phenomenon.
