It would seem that hope is incompatible with the Buddhist tenet of overcoming all desire. Yet Buddhism has its own type of historicity in which future fulfilment plays a part. The Buddha narrative also anticipates a final outcome. Thus Buddhism displays temporal structures which include future expectation. This is not the same as Christian hope, but its non-duality could be a corrective to simplistic interpretations of the Christian story.
